Angie’s Elite Cleaning Solutions is not only a proud sponsor of The Business DisABILITY AWARDS of Australia, but we were also nominated for the Outstanding Employer of the Year Award for 2022. My employees have made all this possible, and just to prove it I have nominated our own Joshua Brown for Outstanding Employee of the Year.

Joshua has been working for Angie’s Domestic Duties since 2015 and has come a long way since then. Joshua is a very valued employee by both his work colleagues and clients. The awards were held on 15 September 2022.

2021 NESA Award for Excellence

Since being implemented in 2004, the NESA Awards for Excellence have highlighted the impact of employment services in partnership with employers and participants to improving the economic and social well-being of individuals, families and communities through employment inclusion.

In 2021, Angie's Domestic Duties was nominated for the National Award for Employing People who are Disadvantaged and people living with a Disability. Angela was nominated by Help Employment and Training for the National Employment Services Associations Awards For Excellence and made the finals.

After winning the award, Angie was very grateful and gave the following quote:

Removing Tea Stains from Cups

We all enjoy a cup of tea - but not those stains left in the cups!

One common misconception about teacups is the belief that tea doesn't leave residue, leading to think that a simple rinse is enough. This overlooks the fact that tea leaves tannins and stains over time, which can affect the taste and hygiene of the cup.

Cleaning a teacup might seem like a low priority compared to other tasks and if a cup is used a lot through the day for the same type of tea, people often put off washing it until the end of the day or the next morning. Sometimes the cup might be sentimental and deter regular washing due to fear of damage.

All these factors can contribute to why people might not regularly or thoroughly clean their teacups.

How to Clean a Teacup

Following these 4 simple steps to make stained teacups a thing of the past. Just remember, the longer you leave them the harder they'll be to remove because they will start to be absorbed by the porcelain.

Rinse your mug with cold water to remove any loose dirt or particles.
Add baking soda or salt directly to the stain or to your sponge. These products are mildly abrasive, so they will help break down the stain.
You should be able to see a difference! If needed, let the mug soak by filling it with hot water and a little dishwashing liquid. Empty the mug, and then repeat the baking soda process to help remove the tea or coffee stain.
Rinse, and wash again with dishwashing liquid if required.

Cleaning Wooden Cutting Boards

While you can put most plastic food preparation boards into the dishwasher, wooden ones are a different kettle of fish altogether. Prolonged exposure to heat and water will cause your wooden board to split or develop cracks which can then trap and house harmful bacteria and other nasties.

You can perform regular cleaning in warm water using a soft sponge and a small amount of dishwashing liquid. For a deeper clean, or to remove stubborn stains, rub the board with some lemon and salt. All you have to do is sprinkle some kosher salt on your cutting board, use half a lemon to rub it in and let the mixture sit for a few minutes. Then, give the board a rinse with clean water, and it should be as good as new!
